About

Talia Clay is a YA speculative fiction and science fiction author. Her books challenge racial politics and address coming-of-age issues of black youth. White Minority is her first novel.

Talia has been writing for more than fifteen years. She started writing in and hoarding journals when she was nine years old. She graduated to writing poetry in high school and then college, where she got her BA in Creative Writing at the University of Miami. (And Psychology because every good writer needs to know about people, right?)

She’s worked as a secretary, telemarketer, high school & online teacher, camp counselor, freelance editor, and bookseller while blogging online. It wasn’t until grad school, where she earned her MA in Writing at Nova Southeastern University, that she developed an attention span long enough to write full books.

She is the creator of the minimalist and lifestyle blog Slow Paced Living in the United States. She also writes about the challenges of Black writers here on her personal blog.

Fun facts about Talia: An avid reader and self-help junkie. A lover of languages, learning Spanish & Japanese. East Coast Native: Lived in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, Georgia. Vegetarian way before it was cool (for 18+ years). Healthy food foodie and bread lover. Wife to a doting husband. Mother of one adorable baby with an extremely popular name.
